Simple tips and to remember when planning and during your trip. Remember, always that even if we are tourists in a foreign country. Doesn't everyone appreciate us equally everywhere we move.

Travel is often full of exciting experiences, new friends and perhaps a breath of fresh air from the ordinary. However, when someone travels to foreign countries, there are certain things they should avoid, both to respect local culture and their safety. Here is a list of the ten most important things to avoid when traveling to different countries:

Very Important to know! (Road Traffic Act) You are obliged to familiarize yourself with the applicable laws and regulations for traffic in the country you are visiting as a driver of a motor vehicle.

1. Avoid being unprepared First, being unprepared can lead to many problems. It is very important to do some research before traveling somewhere. This includes understanding local customs, laws, and important places like the embassy, emergency numbers and so on. It is also useful to learn some basic phrases in the local language, and to have some copies of necessary identification and travel documentation. You never know when you might find yourself in a situation where they might be needed.

2. Avoid cultural neglect When visiting another country, respect their culture. Not only is this basic courtesy, but it can also save you from potential misunderstandings or conflicts. This can include everything from dressing appropriately to following different rules or customs at meals. It is also important to understand that certain actions or comments that may be acceptable in your own culture may be offensive or inappropriate in another.

3. Avoid being too pushy It's always good to be friendly and social when traveling, but it's important to also respect other people's space. Try not to be too intrusive, whether to local residents or other tourists. This includes things like taking pictures of people without their permission, talking too loudly, or not respecting privacy.

4. Avoid dangerous areas Not all areas of a country are safe. Be sure to research which areas to avoid, especially at night. This can vary from country to country, so it is important to do a thorough investigation. Also, if you feel unsafe somewhere, trust your instincts and leave the area.

5. Avoid being careless with valuables Wallet, passport, mobile phone and other valuables should always be kept safe. Pay particular attention in crowded areas such as markets, bus stations, airports and the like. You should also be careful when using ATMs and credit cards. Fraud and identity theft can happen anywhere, so it's wise to be vigilant.

6. Avoid ignoring local laws It is very important to be aware of and follow local laws and regulations. Ignoring these can lead to fines, jail time or worse. This includes laws on alcohol, drugs, driving, public behavior and so on.

7. Avoid bad eating habits Food is a big part of the travel experience, but it is important to be careful about what you eat, especially in countries where hygiene standards can vary. Avoid fast food or food that has been out in the sun for too long. Be careful with raw foods such as fruit and vegetables, and make sure you always have access to safe drinking water.

8. Avoid being careless with your health Health should always be a top priority when you travel. Make sure you have the correct insurance and necessary vaccinations before departure. If you have chronic or serious health problems, it is important to have enough medication with you and have a copy of your prescriptions available.

9. Avoid being disrespectful to the environment When you travel, make sure you leave the places exactly as you found them. Don't throw rubbish around, and respect local wildlife and plant life. Also try to support environmentally friendly businesses and practices as much as possible.

10. Avoid getting too comfortable with familiar routines The last point is perhaps the most important. One of the greatest beauties of traveling is experiencing something new. So despite all this, try to avoid getting too comfortable with your familiar routines. Explore unknown paths, try new cuisines, learn a new language, meet new people. Expand your horizons and break out of your comfort zone. If you do that - while at the same time avoiding the above-mentioned 10 traps - you are sure to have an unforgettable travel experience, full of adventure and new experiences.
