Explosive tourist growt Foreign overnight stays increased by 34 percent, while Norwegian overnight stays increased by 5.9 percent from November 2023.
– November is traditionally not a big holiday month, yet we see an increase in overnight stays for holiday and leisure purposes at hotels in almost all counties. This may indicate that the tourism industry has succeeded in extending the season, says Senior Advisor Kristin Aasestad at Statistics Norway.
A continued weak krone may have contributed to the increase in foreign overnight stays, Aasestad believes. In November 2024, there were the most overnight stays in Oslo and Vestland, with 471,000 and 256,000 overnight stays respectively. In percentage terms, the increase was greatest in Østfold with 31 percent, while in Innlandet there was a small decrease of 0.7 percent.
This is according to figures from Statistics Norway.
If spring and summer follow up on the winter months' figures, 2025 will be exactly as expected. And we can only look forward to another season of high activity.
